Low fat recipes

 

You will notice that these recipes do use a little oil. They are healthy low fat recipes but not fat free. Use these recipes wisely and these recipes will aid you in healthy eating habits.

 

Tomato Soup Recipe


Ingredient for this recipe:


  • 2lb. Tomatoes sliced
  • 1 Carrot grated
  • 4 Peppercorns
  • 3 Teaspoons Sugar
  • 2 Table spoons oil
  • 1 Large onion
  • 1 Turnip Grated
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • 1 bunch of parsley chopped.
  • Stock or water
  • 1 Tablespoon Cornflour

The Method For This Recipe:


  1. Heat oil in a large saucepan and fry onions until slightly brown.
  2. Add tomatoes and leave for 5 minutes, or until they form plenty of liquid.
  3. Pour in stock or water to half fill the saucepan.
  4. Add the carrot, turnip, parsley, bay leaf and peppercorns.
  5. Cover the pot and simmer for 30 minutes or until the vegetables are soft.
  6. Rub the liquid through a strainer, pour back into your saucepan and bring to the boil.
  7. Stir the cornflour, dissolved in ¼ cup water to thicken the soup and bring to the boil.
  8. Add salt and pepper and the sugar if required and boil for 5 minutes.
  9. Serve with toast cut into small triangles.

Baked Fish With Wine And Mushrooms Recipe

 

 

Ingredients For This Recipe:


  • 2lb. Filleted thinly sliced fish
  • 2 Medium tomatoes
  • 1 Tin Button Mushrooms
  • Salt & Pepper
  • 2 Bay leafs
  • Pinch of thyme
  • 2 Teaspoons Cornflour (rounded)
  • 1 Medium onion
  • ½ Cup white wine
  • Sunflower or Corn oil
  • 4 Peppercorns
  • ½ Teaspoon sugar

The Method For This Recipe:


  1. Oil an oven proof dish well.
  2. Line with 1 skinned and sliced tomato.
  3. Season the fish with salt and pepper and dip into the breadcrumbs.
  4. Put the fish on top of tomatoes and sprinkle with 1 dessertspoon of oil.
  5. Place in an oven (400 degrees Fahrenheit).
  6. Bake for about 20 minutes or until the fish is fairly soft.

Prepare the sauce as follows:


  1. Fry the sliced onions and the other skinned tomato in 1 tablespoon oil with the thyme, bay leaves and peppercorn for 5 minutes.
  2. Add 1 cup mushroom juice, wine and sugar and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
  3. Dissolve the cornflour in ¼ cup cold water and add to the sauce to thicken.
  4. Remove the peppercorns and bay leaves.
  5. Add the mushrooms and pour over the baked fish.
  6. Cover the dish; put it back into the oven for about 5 minutes.
  7. Turn the heat down to 200 degrees Fahrenheit.
  8. Leave in the oven for a further 10 minutes.

Stewed Mince Meat Balls Recipe

 

Ingredients For This Recipe:


  • 1lb. beefsteak
  • 1 Thick slice bread
  • 1 Teaspoon vinegar
  • 2 Sliced carrots
  • 6 Peppercorns
  • Salt and Pepper
  • 2 onions
  • ¼ teaspoon Mixed herbs
  • ¼ cup water
  • 3 Bay leaves
  • Potatoes
  • 1 teaspoon Cornflour

The Method For This Recipe:


  1. Mince the meat (I buy ready minced meat) with the onion and bread. If you buy ready minced meat just mix the minced onion and bread in the meat.
  2. Add salt, pepper and mixed herbs.
  3. Add the vinegar and water
  4. Mix all together and shape into ball.
  5. Boil half saucepan water with the sliced carrots, one whole onion, salt bay leaves and peppercorns.
  6. When this comes to the boil, add the mince balls, one at a time and let them boil for about 30 minutes, then turn the heat low, and let it simmer for about half an hour.
  7. Add as many potatoes as required and leave to simmer for a further two hours. Remove bay leaves and peppercorns and thicken gravy with cornflour mixed with ¼ cup water.
